To be eligible for Canadian citizenship, an applicant must meet several key requirements: • Permanent Resident Status You must hold valid permanent resident (PR) status in Canada and must not be under review for immigration or fraud issues, or subject to a removal order. • Physical Presence in Canada You must have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days (3 years) within the last 5 years before applying. Certain time spent in Canada before becoming a permanent resident (e.g., as a worker or student) may count partially. • Income Tax Filing You must have filed your income taxes (if required) for at least 3 years within the last 5 years. • Language Requirements Applicants aged 18 to 54 must demonstrate adequate knowledge of English or French (minimum CLB 4 level). • Knowledge of Canada Applicants aged 18 to 54 must pass a citizenship test covering Canadian history, values, institutions, and symbols. • No Prohibitions You must not have certain criminal convictions, immigration violations, or ongoing legal issues that would prevent you from obtaining citizenship.
